Should the Zennio Thermostat be enabled when controlling a Split?

This question usually appears when Split units are integrated in KNX using the Zennio IRSC device: Is it necessary to enable the thermostat control, for example a Proportional Integral – PWM control, and link it with the On/Off Control of the Split?

The answer to this question is NO. When the Z38 Touch panel is configured with a specific climate page in order to control a Split unit using an IRSC device, the thermostat must not be enabled, because the Split unit has integrated an internal thermostat control.

In that case, we just have to “simulate” an user-Split interface, in which we only provide the machine with the following information:

- On/Off

- Setpoint Temperature

- Mode

- Fan Speed

- Swing Control

Linking the On/Off control of the Split with the thermostat control is even counterproductive, as nowadays, most of the Split units work under the Inverter system performance, which allows saving a lot of energy. If that Inverter system were continuously interrupted (by turning on and off the Split unit), the energy saving advantage of such a system would be wasted
